Alexander McQueen brand will continue

CEO of Gucci confirmed the news that the Alexander McQueen brand will continue. As you know, just before the New York Fashion Week, Alexander McQueen was found hanged in his London apartment. Since then, rumors have been wandering around on what would happen to his brand and upcoming releases. Gucci, before McQueen’s tragic passing, had a long and strong commitment with the designer and now they intend to continue that tradition as they believe the brand has a strong future.

It is true though, since Alexander passed away the sales of his designs have been unbelievable but how long will it last for. Meanwhile, the Gucci Group is continuing their support to the brand by providing all logistical, financial and human support to the late designer’s team. Since the Alexander McQueen show was canceled at the New York Fashion Week, they intend to produce another show at the Paris Fashion Week soon.

Kinder Aggugini @ London Fashion Week

Kinder Aggugini decided to use France as an inspiration for his show at the London Fashion Week. At least, that’s what we think. Some of the designs that were showcased looked like what the French women wore back in the 19th century. Some of them included sweeping silk gowns and military-style tunics mixed with laser-sharp prints.

In case, you are not aware of the designer, Kinder Aggugini then here are some tips; Kinder Aggugini before launching on his own worked with the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Calvin Klein and Versace. He finally made it on his own in 2007 and today he’s a successful designer whose show everyone looks forward to at fashion events.

Back to his designs showcased that evening at the London Fashion Week, Kinder Aggugini showed off rigid cashmere tunics that are said to be inspired by period war uniforms over floaty colourful silks and elegant gowns in blacks, greens and pinks. A word from the designer himself explaining his designs, “A lot of the silhouettes were taken from the historical, but the techniques in which they were manufactured were cut with laser machines — it’s ultra modern,”.

William Rast @ Fashion Week

Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala who are friends and business partners came together to create William Rast, a contemporary fashion label and this time at the New York Fashion Week, William Rast presented what it called “New America.” A very mixture of denim, leather and military styles and Justin added that it’s the kind of clothes that you will see on people on the open roads between the Mississippi River and the West Coast. Both Ayala & Timberlake chose sweatshirt with leather fringe sleeves and, for men, a denim jacket with black leather sleeves as the key look for the William Rast show.

There were other nice ones from the show including a zip-up leather jumpsuit, officer coats and the snakeskin treatment on jeans. When it was time to end the show and take the final bow, Justin did a little act of thankfulness by wiping off his brow for the cameras.

Badgley Mischka@ Fashion Week

The Badgley Mischka show was a fun event as it sported a light look and very intimate. It felt nice just to attend and witness their creativity on the ramp walk. Mark Badgley and James Mischka, also known as Mark and James are known to be the nicest of designers around in the industry. Their designs are pretty much the socialite set. They also design glamorous gowns for the red carpet and charity-ball circuit. Badgley Mischka, this time, wants to create a name for them in the Fashion industry worldwide.

Their show began mainly of lovely gowns being walked on the ramp and we are guessing many celebrities would definitely want some of those of them since it’s the award season. Gowns are pretty much what Mark and James creativity lie in. Then, came on the stage different sets of designs in the likes of white-white, faux-fur jackets, a faux-leather and shiny-lace dress, glowing leggings and a high-class black suede dress with a military touch.

Oscar de la Renta @ Fashion Week

At the Oscar de la Renta show, we had a great time. His fall collection presentation was that of the underlying vibe of a Cold War espionage novel. That said, his clothes seemed to have toned down a bit, in terms of color and volume. Such perfect examples were the long skirts and elegant gowns that seemed to have a touch of the old Hollywood glamour. There were very nice displays of his signature embroideries on the gray organza gown showcased with a chiffon ruffled collar.

Oscar de la Renta himself was quoted naming Astrakhan as his favorite print. Astrakhan happens to be the name of a Russian province. The velvetlike-fur showcased with his clothes was identical to the lambs found in Astrakhan. The final design presented which was a gown with a platinum satin wrap-style top with a plunging neckline and a crinkled lame skirt. Overall, it was a very nice show and we are sure that today’s Hollywood wouldn’t think twice about wearing his creations.

Tory Burch @ Fashion Week

Today in the New York Fashion Week event, we are attending Tory Burch’s presentation. Burch always had a knack of mixing and joining the city-meets-country style in her own way. Those who are not familiar with that kind of look would think ‘what difference could there be’? Well, there is, A LOT! And you only realize that when you come from the country side and one day, you enter the CITY. To make matters worse, for those living in the city they literally make fun of these country girls, to their face.

Now Tony Burch brings us to her designs which included some very nice ones such as sequin-covered tops and dresses that are paired with slick waxed cotton jackets and lug-sole boots. It’s like a whole nice and sweet set if we count the high heels (lug-sole boots). Miss Burch was quoted saying that she liked the type of colors in her designs that reminded her of Picasso’s “Mosqueteros” exhibit and Gerhard Richter’s abstract paintings. With that said, we couldn’t agree more.

Marchesa @ Fashion Week

At the New York Fashion Week, Hollywood personalities rushed to attend the Marchesa show. Hollywood stylists attended just to spot any new styles for the red carpet, since it’s also award season. What totally surprised us was the silver bugle-bead column gown with a sheer bodice decorated with a delicate leaf pattern and not to mention the oversized bow on one shoulder that appeared like it was floating based on the illusion of the body-colored tulle. The ones that totally blew us out of our minds were the sculpted dress with alternating tiers of black tulle and white crepe and a red strapless dress with tight fabric flowers on the bodice.

The sculpted dress was sort of wrapped up petals with a beaded waistline that usually holds a bouquet together. Meanwhile the strapless dress was like fanlike layers on a skirt. Marchesa designer and co-founder Georgina Chapman was asked on which one of her designs would she like to see on the red carpet, Chapman replied “All of them”. Now that’s what we call a wrap!

Lindsay Lohan in trouble at Fashion Week

Miss Lohan or LaLohan (as she’s affectionately known) has been banned from attending anything related to Fashion Week, the cause being that Miss Lohan is a ‘brand damager’. According to sources, Lindsay Lohan brings out bad press to any event she attends thus designers wanted to spare their innocent designs from being torn into pieces. To make matters worse for LaLohan, her ex Samantha Ronson and designer-sister Charlotte Ronson didn’t give Lindsay the green card to attend their show either.

The troubled star quickly took to her Twitter to denounce those banned rumors stating that “in response to the wrong Daily News, i’d rather be raising money for those that need it in Haiti @altitude360 then be at fashion week,” and adding on that the city was focusing more on mindless stuffs rather and in her own words, “ignoring real world issues/reality.” It was reported on Monday that a source from the Jill Stuart’s Fashion Week show claimed that the star was turned away from the event as she’s a “brand damager.” We totally side with Jill Stuart on this.

Prada L’Eau Ambrée for Women

L’Eau Ambrée is the latest entry into the classic perfume family Prada Amber. It has a soft composition and is also expressive. For this product, Prada decided to use antique bas-relief as its inspiration in its advertisement campaign. In this way, the L’Eau Ambrée’s elegance and delicacy are both very well expressed.

Speaking about L’Eau Ambrée, the fragrance itself is a composition that consists of a balance of fresh lemon, May roses, and amber which is somehow Prada’s own modern interpretation of a classy perfume. What form the key layer of this perfume are Citrus notes, with Sicilian lemon leading the fragrance whereas the main spirit is that of a fleshly, bright, and sensual May rose. Prada finishes it off with a finaly layer that incorporates amber notes with patchouli, vanilla, and opoponax. The Prada L’Eau Ambrée for women is available as perfume water and it comes with an additional line of products that includes body lotion, shower gel, body cream, and body powder. Now who wouldn’t want them some Prada?
