Gucci’s Handbags for Fall 2010
Mar 8th

The Gucci handbags for the fall are so amazing that we are wondering whether we can afford all of them. They look totally classy with different subdued colors and the handbags seem more attractive than other handbags around. You know Gucci, they always try to be different and how they succeed in that, we all know. When fashion brands are releasing stronger colors of bags, Gucci opted for a slighter better tone. We like the shapes of the handbags, very nicely lined-out. Nice textures too, specially the ones with calfskin and ostrich textures with curvaceous lines.
They look appropriate for fancy events and look big enough for us to fit in our important items such as slim phone, lipstick and powder. What’s more, on these handbags Gucci opted for an old fashion logo. They have redesigned or rather retouched the Gucci logo from the 1970s. We can’t wait for them to be out to see the reaction of Gucci’s fans.

The couture show at the Philadelphia fashion week was a different event altogether. We have been attending multiple shows these days and it’s nice for a change. Milan shows us how to dress properly
Mar 2nd

In Milan, the preview collections for the fall winter 2010-2011 was a surprising event altogether. Surprising as in, we were so expecting something spectacular to pop up on the ramp but all we got were lessons on how to dress like a lady. Not that we didn’t know how but it seems that in today’s modern age, a lot of people might have forgotten how to dress properly, ahemm, Lady Gaga. Anyways, gone were the Italian designers’ sexy touch on the runway this time. Dolce & Gabbana presented their line for the next winter with well-dressed clothes, well covered.
On the other hand, Prada presented theirs and even claim that their line is sexy but how can it be sexy without showing off some flesh! Some clothes were a no show such as trousers, looser skirts, cinched waists, silk tops, raised shoulders and couture cut jackets and coats. In other words, no fancy items were spotted in Milan.
Gucci’s Jackie Handbag
Mar 1st

The new Jackie handbag is the modern version of the well-known handbag Jackie from Gucci. In case you have never heard of Jackie, the name was established in the 1950s and consisted of the famous model, Jacqueline Onassis, favorite accessories. The new Jackie handbag looks pretty much like the original one with the exceptions that the new bag has an extremely soft deconstructed body. This time the bag is available in multiple colors including purple, emerald, coral red and supplemented white cloud and with a touch of muted tones.
No matter how modern the bag may be, it still lets out the same ideology and classic look that the original Jackie handbag portrayed. Looking at the handbag more carefully, we found that the new version has been made with great care. The stitching looks perfect and combined with the bag’s crafts, it creates a beauty and the best part is, both on the inside and outside, the bag is astounding. We wonder when we’ll get ours!
London Fashion Week wraps up
Feb 27th

The London Fashion Week was a smooth ride even though some people were expecting something extraordinary to happen. The schedule was indeed tight but we did manage to sneak in to some shows including an improvised catwalk in a parking garage (show by Peter Pilotto); a Serpentine Gallery art and fashion mélange (show by Pringle). Then there was the show of Pam Hogg who managed to put Siouxsie Sioux in a lace bodysuit on her runway. Those attending the event included Nick Cave and artists Sue Webster and Tim Noble. The show itself reminded us of the 80s fashion with a mixture of the modern designers.
Burberry had a nice show of military coats and aviator jackets over high boots and short dresses and shirts. Front row guests include Kate Hudson, Mary-Kate Olsen and Twiggy.
Pringle showed off high-tech knitwear mixed with tweeds, leather and some fur. Celebrities spotted on the front row are Erdun, Christopher Kane, Jonathan Sanders, Peter Pilotto and Marios Schwab.
Burberry @ London Fashion Week
Feb 27th

At the end of London Fashion Week, Burberry gave a showcase of its Prorsum collection. Since Burberry is a well-known name, a lot of important people came out to show their support and check out what this brand has in store for them. This show would bring out the designs of Burberry’s Christopher Bailey.
The show itself had a sexy touch with hot girls wearing big men’s jacket. It felt sexy and at the same time, romantic. Bailey was quoted saying that he liked the idea of making a girl feel protected in a big outerwear piece. The designer feels that things should feel thrown on and be casual. The items shown from the ramp will all be sold online. Speaking on that, Bailey said that the digitalization of the world is forcing all of us to think about the way that we sell and the way that people buy, and the way that people experience a brand. We surely agree, selling online these items will definitely open new doors.
New Rive Gauche Flap Bag from Yves Saint Laurent
Feb 26th

Women all over will love the new handbag from Yves Saint Laurent. The bag known as the Rive Gauche Small Flao Bag seems like a functional designer purse to us. It can hold in there what most ladies need including makeup kit, phone, small mirror and etc. It can be carried for any occasion at any time with any dress since it’s black.
It will look super hot with some leather jacket and pants. The bag features square panels which give it an edgy and at the same time, a classy look. It also kind of has that metallic look with its subtle sheen finish. The fancy and decorative buckle gives the bag an edgy look. The New Rive Gauche Small Flap Bag is made from supple leather. The bag measures about 6 x 5 x 2 inches. Come to think of it, it sorts of remind us as the same bag that Angelina Jolie used to fly down a building in Mr & Mrs Smith.
Alexander McQueen brand will continue
Feb 25th

CEO of Gucci confirmed the news that the Alexander McQueen brand will continue. As you know, just before the New York Fashion Week, Alexander McQueen was found hanged in his London apartment. Since then, rumors have been wandering around on what would happen to his brand and upcoming releases. Gucci, before McQueen’s tragic passing, had a long and strong commitment with the designer and now they intend to continue that tradition as they believe the brand has a strong future.
It is true though, since Alexander passed away the sales of his designs have been unbelievable but how long will it last for. Meanwhile, the Gucci Group is continuing their support to the brand by providing all logistical, financial and human support to the late designer’s team. Since the Alexander McQueen show was canceled at the New York Fashion Week, they intend to produce another show at the Paris Fashion Week soon.
